Meizu 21 Pro arrives with 6.79″ LTPO display, 50MP main and 10MP 3x tele cameras

Meizu may withdraw from the smartphone business to focus on AI, but the Geely-owned company needs to launch at least one more model before saying goodbye. A Pro version of the Meizu 21 has just gone official with a better screen, a telephoto camera and a bigger battery with wireless charging.

Let’s start from the front. Meizu 21 Pro is equipped with a 6.79” AMOLED display with 1,368 x 3,192px resolution (21:9) and 1,250 nits maximum brightness. It’s an LTPO panel with a 1-120Hz refresh rate (for comparison, the vanilla 21 has a 6.55″ FHD+ 19.5:9 display). The 32MP selfie camera is the same.

Behind the glass is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but with 12GB of RAM as standard (up from 8GB) and a 16GB version. Also, the storage comes in 256GB, 512GB and now 1TB capacities as well.

Moving back, the 200MP camera is gone, replaced by a 50MP main camera to pick up the slack when zooming in, along with a 72mm (3x) telephoto module with a 10MP sensor (and up to 30x digital zoom). The ultra wide camera is the same at 13MP 122° (15mm). There is a ToF depth sensor to improve autofocus, the main camera can record 8K video and enjoys OIS and EIS stabilization.

The 5,050mAh battery supports high capacity (+250mAh) and 50W wireless charging in addition to 80W wired charging.

The Meizu 21 Pro is now available for pre-order from the company’s online store in China, with open sales starting on March 2. The base 12/256GB model starts at CNY 5,000 ($700/€640/₹57,500). The 16/512GB model costs CNY 400 more and the top 16GB/1TB model costs CNY 5,900.

There are four colorways to choose from – three with glass backs (black, white and blue) and one with a leather back (green). Note that the Pro is rated IP68, while the vanilla model only has an IP54 rating.
