Xiaomi announces Redmi 13C 5G with new chip, 50 MP dual camera

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 13C 5G – an affordable smartphone with next-gen cellular connectivity, a 50 MP main camera and an attractive back panel design with star elements. The phone differs from the LTE-only Redmi 13C in both the chipset and camera department.

The Redmi 13C 5G features a 6.74” LCD with HD+ resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. The panel doesn’t allow for an under-display fingerprint scanner, so the sensor is embedded in the right power key below the volume rocker.

The chipset is a Dimensity 6100+ with an octa-core CPU, reaching speeds of 2.2 GHz on its two performance cores. Storage is either 128GB or 256GB, while RAM is 4GB, 6GB or 8GB.

The Redmi 13C 5G could be mistaken for its LTE sibling if it wasn’t for the rear cameras. The island is visually different and we see two shooters within two large black circles. The 50 MP main has an f/1.8 aperture on the front, while the resolution of the secondary is not even mentioned by Redmi in the promotional materials or official specs sheet.

The selfie camera is tucked inside a waterdrop notch and has a 5MP sensor, which is a slight downgrade from the 8MP camera on the other Redmi 13C.

Xiaomi is selling the Redmi 13C 5G with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18W PD charging via the USB-C port but only includes a basic 10W adapter in the retail box. The phone has a dedicated microSD slot on the card tray, where it can simultaneously hold two SIM cards with 5G support.

Other notable features include a 3.5mm audio jack, Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top and Gorilla Glass protection for the display. The phone is splash and dust-resistant, which is always a nice feature in an affordable phone.

Xiaomi Redmi 13C 5G is available in three colors – Starlight Black, Starlight Green and Startrail Silver. The 4/128 GB will cost INR 10,999 ($120/€110), the 6/128 GB will cost INR 12,499 ($140/€130), or the 8/256 GB will cost INR 14,499 ($160/€160) once launched. ). ) €150). December 16.
